Arts and Crafts Homes in Saint Louis

by Mike Knoll on November 9, 2011

I held an open house this past Sunday and had a great conversation with a nice couple who just moved to St. Louis from North Carolina.  While they loved all the architecture here, they commented that they had not seen many Craftsman or Arts & Crafts style homes.  I explained how there is actually a great abundance of the style here but sometimes it is hidden behind the traditional brick exterior that is so popular in the area.  This week I thought I’d share some of the current offerings on the market.

616 Bellerive is a fantastic Arts and Crafts style home.  $349,000.00 – 5 bedrooms – 2.5 baths

Mike, when this happens, please provide the individuals with the St. Louis Arts and Crafts Society e-mail address: stlbungalow@charter.net. and I will add them to our contact list.

As the arts and crafts period encouraged use of local materials, St. Louis would naturally have been constructed of brick as at the time we were the “brick capital”.

Next year, The Society is hoping to map out locations in St. Louis where “craftsman” homes are more prevalent.

Thanks so much for informing your readers of the lovely home on Bellerive Blvd.

Patrice
